To our BWCOB Family of Faith –
We are sure you are well aware of all that is swirling around us with the spread of the latest coronavirus (Covid-19) dominating the news and causing rippling effects around our community and our world. In order to do our part to take strong steps now which will hopefully slow the spread of the virus and ease the burden on medical facilities, we are making the decision to cancel all activities/Sunday School classes and worship this coming Sunday, March 15. The Bridgewater Church of the Brethren building will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
We want to continue to closely monitor the developments and the recommendations from health officials and are making preparations to respond accordingly. In the next week, we will let you know of further decisions and cancellations.
Ultimately, each one of us needs to do what we believe is in the best interests of ourselves and/or our families. And as a community that values sharing life together, we know that relationships matter and that any disruption in our communal life has emotional and spiritual costs. Yet in recognizing that we are stewards of these relationships and that we live in a shared world, we must all strive to serve the common good. Though this virus may cause us to distance ourselves from one another for a time, we hold fast to the faith that there is nothing in all creation that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. And who knows – perhaps in the midst of this health crisis, there is a hidden opportunity to discover new and creative ways of loving one another and working for our neighbors’ good.
Finally, please be in prayer for all those around the world whose lives have been touched by this pandemic; for the scientists, officials, and health care workers who are working tirelessly to understand this disease, combat its spread, and care for its victims; and for all those who are making decisions and dealing with the fallout of its effects.
In Christ’s love,
Christy Dowdy and Chris Zepp, Pastors, Bridgewater Church of the Brethren
