David was born in 1960 in Rockingham County, Virginia and is a life-long member of the Church of the Brethren. Along with his wife, Carol Lena, they have two teenage sons, Jonas and Zeb, both raised and currently living in the area.
David graduated from Broadway High School and Bridgewater College. In 1984 David received his MATh degree from Bethany Seminary and in 1989 received his MDiv from Andover Newton Theological School. David is committed to lifelong learning while serving in a variety of roles in the denomination and District. Some of these roles include teaching Church History and Brethren Beliefs and Practices in the Christian Growth Institute, providing leadership for the Shenandoah Pastors for Peace, past moderator of Shenandoah District Conference (2016), served on the General Board (currently Mission and Ministry Board) from 1996-2001, served on the On Earth Peace board from 2009-2014 and served two stints with Brethren Volunteer Service.
David has filled different pulpits in the Mid-Atlantic, Virlina and Shenandoah Districts. These
placements include Manassas Church of the Brethren, Roanoke First and most recently Montezuma Church of the Brethren in the Shenandoah District. David brings thirty-two years of ministry experience.
