Habitat Dedication

The dedication of the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren Habitat House took place on September 23, 2001. This date was 14 years and one day after the original meeting of the Central Valley Habitat for Humanity Chapter, convened by Ashby Patterson. This house was also this Chapter's 25th house, and was built in the 25th Anniversary Year of Habitat International.

Jim Benedict welcomed the group to this dedication occasion.
There was a great turnout for this event.

Friends, church members and Habitat supporters joined the family in celebration.
Florencia expressed her thanks to everyone who helped and invited them to a delicious array of traditional Mexican foods.

Bob Holten, Town Superintendent, extended a welcome the Rojas family on behalf of the town of Bridgewater.
Guests helped themselves to the array of foods.

Visiting and eating concluded the day.
Steven Martindale made the presentation of the family Bible.

Kajsa Nicholas prepared and presented two identical scrapbooks, one for the church and one for the Rojas family.
Some guests brought chairs and umbrellas for sun protection on this very warm September Sunday.

Phil Flory of the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren presented the church's Tithe Check as starter money for anther Habitat project.
"You'll know what to do with this!"

Jackie Towers, Barbara Kiracofe, and Mary Ann Angleberger presented two quilts designed and made by the Friendship Circle.
Bob Reeves, Building Coordinator, expressed thanks to the many corportations, businesses, and volunteers who made this project a success.

Former Habitat chairman introduced the Rojas family.
The sandbox was a gift from the Vacation Bible School at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church.

It didn't take long for the sandbox to be initiated - a fun ending to a wonderful event!
